We go to Savannah often, it is not far from our home. The boys love to play the golf course at the Westin. They go play and I can putts around town looking at the antique shops or having lunch at one of the places I love. This way we all get to do something we enjoy and we are all still together. They allow my dog to come and stay yip heee so we all enjoy it…they even give Maggy a heavenly bed too! I take my dog with me most places….I am more likely to return if she can tag along…..why I love my dog!! She is part of the group. She has even been to the Masters.
There is several places we always go when coming down. Zunzi’s this is an usual place why it is different for us it is South African. This place is quite reasonably priced. There is always a line, a really long line so go a head and line up/que with everyone else and you will not be sorry. We love the iced tea it is a south African ~ so different kinda like a chai rooibos tea, well I love it!! We like the conquistador, fish sandwich, cottage pie, and Oliver’s special. Every thing is good. Go through the line get your vittals and go out back and eat out side with the locals.
Another place is Gallery Coffee shop ~ we are so bad when we are on our way to many places like Sea Island or St Augustine we will go out of our way about one hour and stop at the coffee shop for a Fro which is a frozen coffee drink and a lunch at Zunzi’s. Then swing by Back in the Day Bakery and get a box of goodies to go. YEA!!
We like to stay at the Westin it is a little quieter there, it is across the river from town. They have a ferry to ride back and forth. Then they have the golf and spa right there. It smells so amazing in there ~ omgosh if you have ever been you know what I am talking about! I love the way this place smells ~ white green tea oh dear me it is so heavenly. I had to order the soap and lotion after the 1st stay there….crazy I found the stuff on amazon of all places….they sale everything yep dang it smells so fresh, clean and wonderful!
We have eaten at most of the places in town at one time or another. If I did not list it ~ for some reason I did not think it was one of the best places Savannah has to offer. Some places you just have to try them if you are from other places in the world, like Mrs. Wilkes…the food was really pretty good my last few visits. They have southern family style dining which you sit at the table with others. There is such a long line by time you get in to be seated you know these people quite well and have really enjoyed some of the guest I have been seated with. I enjoy talking and visiting with any one…I could talk to a tree stump. Fried chicken……yum!
I love to go to the Paris Market what a fun store….and they have a great place to take a break and have a nice cold drink…. a frozen hot chocolate or defused flavored water. They have cookies from the 2 Smart Cookies a little place over on White Buff Road. Cute oh so cute and yum too.
There is many things to do here, golf, shop, eat, antique hunt, beach, fish and relax. There is SCAD here so there is many new art galleries. There is many that display their art on their bodies too. I love to go and visit some of the art galleries. If that is not your thing and you are a history buff, they have many historical old homes to tour.
Go visit Savannah and see for your self what a lovely little southern town it is….Y’all come back now ya hear!!
