We love rice crispy treats as most people do….but, mix them with chocolate and peanut butter. Yum….Yum! I made a few batches for Halloween. We are lucky to live in a neighborhood we have many little trick or treaters. They are so cute all dressed up in their little costumes. I just get so excited about Halloween seeing all the little children….I dress up to as you might have guessed. Some times they laugh at me and say awwww Mrs. Sarris and then some years I have scarred them like last year. I dressed up in a gorilla suit with a cute apron, pearls, ear rings and a bow in my hair. I though I was cute well the kids thought I was scary and would cry. I would take my mask off and they would say awww that is you. Don’t put it back on okay Mrs. Sarris you are scaring me…heee heee. This year who knows what I will come up with.
These treats are soooo good. Easy to make ~ chewy, peanut buttery and chocolatey oh goodness. But, silly me I stuck them in the refrigerator to cool them so I could cut them to take a picture. Not much daylight to take photos with these days because it gets dark so quickly. I have to work fast and the chocolate bloomed ~ dang it! grrrr so up setting so note to self not to do that again! So, you can see it on the photo too oh goodness ~ but never the less they still tasted real good! Lots for the cook then, I had to make others for the children.
Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats
1 cup sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup creamy peanut butter
6 cups rice crispy cereal
1 bag semi sweet chocolate chips
In a large pot mix sugar and corn syrup. Bring the mixture to a boil. Add the peanut butter and mix until all is incorporated together. Remove from the heat and add the rice crispy cereal, mix throughly. Press in a buttered 9X13 pan. In a double boiler, melt chocolate and spread over the treats. You can add sprinkles if you wish. Enjoy!
