We are going on a trip of a life time. How did this all get started well let me see….I love watching Downtown Abbey and Viking is their sponsor. They show all these wonderful trips before and after the show. I have been “sayin” fur ever now dang it, I want to go do that…..can we, can we, purdy please? Well, we are going today. I have told many friends, family and contacts I am going to blog about the trip. The good, the wonderful, the food, the boat and all I think is interesting.
Well, we have some friends that have been talking about joining us so I started doing the research and we got together to talk about going. We had somewhat planned to go in the spring. Our friend said why the heck wait till then…lets go now so we called and booked one that very day. If we all love it we will go again in the spring. We picked the cruise by the dates we had available to go with our schedules. This is the one that worked for everyone. Got a great price too by waiting till the last minute to go. YIP Heeee
We leave Atlanta, fly into Paris then on to Basel Switzerland….Oh goodness how exciting….So we are now at the airport on our way to a wonderful adventure of fun, eating and exploring the great Rhine River.
We just arrived in Basel today, boarded our lovely ship. This is a beautiful new long ship. It surpassed my expectations in every way. We have been up for 2 days now, flown from Atlanta to Paris. Seems every time I go to the Paris airport it takes a while to get to your connecting flight. Lots of walking…buses, trams additional security check points yes again, then more walking oh my. Then on to Basel, our friends luggage did not make it to Switzerland. Hopefully it will arrive in the morning. We have gotten to our ship unpacked and had our first dinner aboard the ship. The ship we are on is called the Atla it is three months old. It host 187 guest. The cost of the ship is roughly 24 million euros. We are in a room that is called a french balcony state room. The guest on these type ships stay on 2 floors. This style room is nice size room with a walk out balcony. The nice thing about this type of vacation you get to many different places without moving from place to place. You unpack your things one time and each day you are in a different country to see new and beautiful places. I am sorry, I am tired and cannot even think…good night until tomorrow.
