We love to eat out and do eat out often. But…we like everyone else have a few places we go to over and over again! There are some places we love to go to once a week or every other week. My philosophy on this is going to be I will list my “Faves” and then list the new places I have tried lately. I’m going to do like my mom said and if I can’t say “nuffin” nice I am not going to say any thing at all…hows that?

A great place. Let’s just get right to the point? I have been a few times and each time wanted to return the following evening. I have been for lunch and dinner. GREAT burger! Loved the shrimp salad, the crab appetizer, beet salad, pop overs, deviled eggs, and bar steak. Great lamb and rabbit…I like sitting at the bar great entertainment and wonderful cocktails. See ya there tomorrow

I have been several times now, each time really enjoying my meal and wanting to return. I think I have had everything on the menu and love the place. I had a risotto dish on the nightly menu the other night, it was maybe the best risotto I have ever had. It was creamy, loaded with flavor, crab and white asparagus…such a delightful item. Great wine and beer list. They have great burgers too as you might have guessed since chef Todd is in the kitchen. See ya there.

Oh my goodness what an amazing, wonderful place…..It is so nice to enter in a restaurant and be removed from your everyday life. Everything went great they sat us right away, we had a great waiter. He was helpful, knowledgable and made us feel welcome wow what a wonderful night. The space is so inviting and charming I do love this place. This is a well planned space like all the light bulbs. The food ~ I started with the foir gras appetizer, wonderful I did not even offer my table mates a taste simply could not part with one bite. They all had salads, soup and escargot and everyone seemed to love their choices. Oh my I hate to say this but it is just how I felt it was the best steak I have EVER had pretty hard to top that? I had an aged center cut filet with garlic, thyme and butter. The best…. wow right was for me but there again I did not share one bite and ate the whole thing wow loved it!! No, I was not paid to say this they did not know I was even in the place. Their sides are great as well everything we tried was better than the next thing. For dessert the waiter pushed bread pudding well, it is hard for any one to impress me with bread pudding why I hate to brag but I make a pretty good one. Well….dang they got that right on as well and the others desserts we tried too so all and all a wonderful meal from beginning to ending. This is rather a pricey place but when a place is worth what you pay for I am impressed. I was impressed a lovely place. Thanks ! I will return.

This is Shaun Doty’s new restaurant. Cute space…but I was not overly impressed with the food. The prices are a little high for what you get. The side items are very small and none was overly impressing. I did like the little pies so, so cute and quite tasty.

This is in the old Craft restaurant space remember that place? The presentation of the food was done really well, great new ideas here and a wonderful job plating the food. The positive review ends there. The flavor was not there ~ looked great tasted okay. Remember we are going to be nice? Remember There is a large wait staff you would think they could see you are taken care of, in need of some southern hospitality.

This is a chain and so it is what you would expect of a chain restaurant. It is not great nor is it bad. It is a pasta place that makes fresh pasta. You choose the pasta and sauce you may also have add ons such as fish, chicken, shrimp or meatballs.
F&B Atlanta
3630 Peachtree Road, NE
Atlanta, Georgia 30326

This is in the new Ritz’s Condo building. This restaurant has moved around a lot in the Atlanta area, this time looks very different. The menu is very, very limited I will say. I did really enjoy the beet salad but the rest of the items not so much. I really expected a little more upscale place for the Ritz.
The Spence
An Eatery

Atlanta, Georgia 30308

3rd and 4th visits ~ We have been back many times due to it is right next door to Mr. Fit its build and I will say have had a mixed bag of experiences? One time had a hard time getting someone to wait on us to the point we left ~ not good. Another just not up to par on the food items. So, not consistent not what you want to hear when dinning out.
1 & 2 visits ~ We enjoyed our dinner many small plates. Loved the strawberry cheese cake was a deconstructed dessert not at all what I was expecting but was really good. What he is famous for, food science….fun to play with your food. We have been for the family supper what a deal!! This is the meal they feed the staff. You never know what it will be and you pay their cost for the meal. When they run out they run out. Cheap and great family meal!
The Optimist
Fish Camp & Oyster Bar
914 Howell Mill Road
Atlanta, Georgia 30318
We went to the opening night party…so not a regular evening. The restaurant is a beautifully done space. It has an open clean feeling with big windows, loved it. I do wish they would have left the ham sign on the outside, I know it did not fit the design but it is old Atlanta History! Boo Hoo okay on to the food, loved the come back sauce they served with the steamed shrimp this is a Mississippi thing! I loved it they nailed it! yum! This is more like a nice seafood place not a fish camp at all ~ Look being from Mississippi I know fish camps. The only thing I would change is 2 additions to the menu and make it more fish campy a fried fish and fried shrimp. I know not what you would expect from me but hey it is a “fish camp” kinda place. They did have fried oysters and sautéed flounder lightly dusted in wonder flour NOT the same. All in all a great place and I will go back.
Viande Rouge

Johns Creek 30097

Great steak place and it is right down the road…yea! It is on the upper scale so no jeans here. An old fashion steak place. You will enjoy your evening good food and great service.
Southern Art
InterContinental Buckhead
3315 Peachtree Road
Atlanta, Georgia
Oh dear me….I said I was not going to do this.
This is suppose to be a southern place and they do not have REAL ICE TEA what….nope they have the kind out of the coke fountain kind WHAT!! Okay it cannot get any worse than this. YUK! I have told many friends I would say what I thought so I am, I was expecting great things. The biscuits were really good. Too much vinegar in pickles took everyones breath away. I had the apple greens salad with the buttermilk dressing. I love everything that was in the salad but, it just did not work together and the buttermilk dressing was not any thing worth eating. Maybe it came out of that fountain thingy who knows…not good, 86 this one!! Okay back up here before I go any further the “daycor” was atrocious! Southern I don’t think so, south of what…ugly! Stop it, stop it!! Be nice okay I am going to try. Most everyone that worked here well lets just say are not southern which by the way is a state of mind as well. A lot of my large group did order the fried chicken. I will say it was okay not bad and just not the best I have had. Did not like the side items that came with this dish at all. We did order dessert WHY after this sort of meal I have a rule if they can’t get the appetizer right they sure as heck aren’t going to get that correct. We had to, it was one of the girls birthday and you have to have cake. Well, I was so wrong that is the only thing I would say was done correctly. We got the chocolate butter milk and the lemon pound cake. Both being very good. I have the cookbook so I will be looking those up fur sure!! Would I return? NAW ! Sorry Art !! I know this is harsh but it is honest! I went light on the negative feelings really I did as well trying to be nice and keeping it clean. I will say this is not a good reflection on the food from the South or the way we decorate or the people from the South. Maybe “Fountain Art” would be a better name. See above list for better Southern Meals. I will say each and every person we came in contact with was kind, pleasant and professional.

This is a hot dog place, a Richard Blais restaurant. I had several different hot dogs all with a twist and quiet good. My favorite was the Alabama Lobster Roll. I hear the place is up for sale? You know what that means?

We went for lunch and it was great, went for dinner not so great. I was so disappointed ~ Just knew I would love it? I have been back for lunch and dinner again. I so want to love this place. Do not get me wrong it is good just not as good as JCT’s and there is so many good places in Decatur to eat. They could step up the game here some.
